Access your music anywhere
I've recently discovered the joy of Google Play Music and thought I'd share my experience. While the Google Play store is still pretty lacking when it comes to content, I've been taking full advantage of its feature that allows you to upload your entire music collection, then access it anywhere.
Google allows you to upload up to 20,000 songs to the cloud for free using its nifty PC app. Depending on the size of your collection, it could take a while, but the reward is worth it. The app can also auto-upload new music you've added to your computer later on, so you never fall behind or forget to upload something.
Once you've uploaded your collection, you'll pretty much be able to stream your music from anything with an internet connection. Everything works fairly well, including streaming from a browser, but the more fluent you are in other Google services the better. The native Android app available on the Play store is fantastic. If you have an iPhone though, you're not out of luck either. There are a number of third party apps on the App Store that can access Google Music (like gMusic or GoMusic).
While Google is still playing catch up with Apple in terms of content and a few other areas, there's no question that they are heading in the right direction. At the end of the day, Google Music allows you to stream your music collection anywhere for free, even to your smartphone or tablet, which is something iTunes is still sorely lacking.
