Netflix drives toward Facebook integration

A while back, I had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine. We were both fairly baffled as to why Netflix hasn't added the option of sharing what you were watching to Facebook. It seemed to us like a no-brainer, and would simultaneously give them some great advertising while helping users discover new content.
Well, apparently we weren't the only ones thinking about this option, as Netflix has been attempting to work around an aspect of the Video Privacy Protection Act to be able to do just that. A bill allowing users to be able to share their information about what they are watching successfully passed the U.S. Senate on Dec. 18. Now all that's stopping the streaming giant is a signature from President Obama.
While you may be groaning at the thought of your Facebook feed being dominated by the viewing habits of all of your friends, I can't wait until this feature is available. There are a ton of hidden gems buried in Netflix Instant, and being able to help your friends discover them in a seamless way would be tons of fun.
