Crystal Lake teen to compete for title of Miss Teen Illinois USA

Kaitlyn Fronczak, 17, of Crystal Lake, will compete for the title of Miss Teen Illinois USA from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie.

Fronczak will be a senior this fall at Crystal Lake South High School. This is her first pageant, and she will compete in three categories during a preliminary competition: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. Her scores will determine whether she makes it to the semifinalist round in the pageant.

“She is a very determined young lady and goes for what she really wants in life,” said her mother, Theresa Fronczak. “Kaitlyn is a workaholic and is always trying to stay involved whether it’s volunteering or working.”

The winner of the Miss Illinois Teen USA title will advance to the Miss Teen USA Pageant.

Kaitlyn Fronczak said she was interested in the pageant because of its scholarship and academic opportunities, but also she hopes to influence other girls negatively affected by the media and teach them to be confident in themselves.

“This pageant will open so many opportunities for me to hopefully let me open the eyes of young girls constantly suppressed by trending media,” she writes on her website.

Kaitlyn Fronczak needs to raise about $1,000 in production fees for the pageant, and has set up an account for donations at www.gofundme.com/c09x8c.

The winner of the pageant will receive a scholarship to Lindenwood University worth $57,600. Runners-up receive scholarships valued at $48,000, and semifinalists receive a Lindenwood scholarship valued at $37,600. Every contestant is offered a Lindenwood scholarship valued at $33,600.
